About Us

Who are we?

HSAC proudly opened its doors in September 2005 as one of three schools within the Queens High School Complex (QHSC) community.

At HSAC, students are prepared for college and acquire the skills they need to be successful in the 21stcentury. Students explore career and postsecondary options beginning in the ninth grade and learn to reach their potential.

Students have opportunities to work with state-of-the-art technology and systems infused into our classroom instruction. These tools allow our students to extend their thinking and promote their skills in both literacy and communication. As our school has the flexibility to operate simultaneously in analog and digital settings, students are given many learning options, with Microsoft Teams as one of the essential components in student learning. With this background, students can apply these skills to gain Microsoft certification and become experts in communication using online project-based classrooms.

Our Mission

High School of Applied Communication (HSAC) creates opportunities for all students to participate in a school community that prioritizes their academic and personal achievements. Through a supportive network of teachers, counselors, administrators, and parents, HSAC provides all its community members with equity and access to the knowledge, skills, and resources critical to becoming future leaders and influencers.

Our community recognizes that the core of student success emanates from a personalized learning experience. Through this core belief, HSAC teachers continuously collaborate to ensure that our students receive equitable access to a customized, rigorous education that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth.

Our Vision

HSAC will prepare all students to maximize their participation in academic and professional opportunities in applied communication fields. Through immersive learning experiences focused on relevant and real-world applications, students will have access to rigorous curriculums that offer identity and ownership in their learning.
